I Thomas Brandon Sr. do make and publish this my last will and testament
hereby revoking and making void all other wills by me at any time made.-
First I direct that my funeral expenses and all my debts be paid as soon
after my death as possible out of any moneys that I may die possessed of
or as may first come into the hands of my Executors.-
Secondly I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Nancy Brandon all of
my real and personal property during her natural life or widowhood. At
the death of my wife or if she marries again.
Thirdly I give and bequeath unto my son Endimyon Brandon and also my
beloved daughter Eunicy Brandon two hundred acres of land to include
the place where I now live. The said Eunicy is to have to wit ;
Beginning on a large marked poplar on the North side of the
Clift thence to the cross fence leading to the clover field by
way of a marked sugar tree so as to include the house where
Nathaniel Brandon lived in near the pump thence with said
fence to a hollow thence with said hollow to my line and
Thomas Brandon Jr.'s thence with said line to two White
Oak saplings thence with said line to a Black Oak corner
thence with said line to a stake on Mullinix's line thence with
mine and said line to a Sugar Tree corner my corner thence
to the beginning.
The said Endimyon Brandon is to have the balance that remains of the two
hundred acres. The said Eunicy Brandon is to have two cows & calves,
two feather beads, two under beads, two beadsteads, two sheets, two
quilts, two blankets and a double coverled. The said Endimyon Brandon is
also to have one Bay Mare called Poll and one Black Boy by the name of
John. The said boy is not to be sold and if the said boy should become
helpless he is to have his support off of Endimyon Brandon's part of the
place.
Fourthly will and bequeath unto my beloved grandson Son of Israel
Brandon five dollars.
Fifthly I will and bequeath unto my sons Thomas Brandon Jr. and Johnson
Brandon five dollars each and also Jane Hicks wife of Martin M. Hicks
five dollars.
Sixthly I will that my track of land commonly called the Clift Place
containing two hundred acres be sold to the highest bidder on a credit of
twelve months to raise money to pay my debts .
Seventhly I will and bequeath unto my beloved Daughter Eunicy in
addition to the former legacy one ten gallon pot, one dinner pot, one
baker, one clock, six pewter plates.
Eighthly I will and bequeath unto my beloved son Endimyon Brandon in
addition to his former legacy above named, eleven head of hogs, one large
kettle, one large oven & one large jug and two bee stands to be divided
between Eunicy & Endimyon. Also one pot trammel to Eunicy.
Ninthly I will and bequeath unto my beloved daughter Polly Dikes wife of
Joseph Dykes one large pot for her son Thomas. Also I will and bequeath
that my two daughters Mary Ann Moore wife of William Moore and Rose
Ann Moore wife of Gabriel Moore one large kettle each .
Tenthly I give and bequeath unto my beloved sons and daughters and their
heirs to wit: William, James, & Nathaniel Brandon and Charlotte the wife
of William Dobbins, Nancy the wife of James Hamilton, Polly the wife of
Joseph Dykes, Mary Ann the wife of William Moore and Roseanna
Moore the wife of Gabriel Moore the remainder of my real and personal
property to be equally divided amongst my said children and their heirs at
the death of my heirs.
Eleventhly. If the said Eunicy should die without leaving any heirs the land
that I left her shall be returned to the said Endimyon Brandon.
And lastly. I do hereby nominate and appoint Endimyon Brandon my
Executor/ In witness whereof I do to this my last will set my hand and seal
this 10th day of March A.D. 1845
