He served in 13th Regiment of SC Militia in Rev War. The same outfit as J acob (BREELER) BRELAND.

He is buried on the grounds of the Breland Family Cemetery, Rivers Bridg e State Park, SC. According to the Breland Memorial Marker in the Brelan d, he was born in Bavaria in 1753, one year after his father, Hans arrive d with William’s brothers, Abram, Jacob, and James on the Queen of Denmar k. There was no mention of Hans’ wife arriving with Hans in 1752, so sh e may have been pregnant with William and joined the family in America n a few years later. This is all speculation. It’s possible there were tw o William Brelands born about the same time, or the date of birth may hav e been misstated.

The dates of his and Mary's deaths were mixed up on the Breland marker, a s William's Will was executed in Dec 1820, and Mary died in 1825. 4 JUN 1768 a Plat for 250 acres in Craven County, was issued to Thoma s Dean, next to lands owned by William Breland, George Box, John Caldwel l & others. This was on the Enoree River. This opens another door to be f ollowed up as it is not in the general location of where he was listed i n the 1790 census as a single man. It is possible that that there were tw o men with the name of William Breland. The information following may mea n that this William was not a son of Abraham but the son of a brother na med William, or the son of Jacob.
