I believe the term was originally used to classify music from the 50's and early sixties...pre Beatles music. I guess it was a lot easier to say Oldies music than 50's/early 60's before Beatles, etc. music. Anyway, my guess is for most people when they think of Oldies music they think of this time frame as opposed to the Sixties, which has now become the Classic Rock period, and many people associate the 70's with Disco. Agree?
