Hi John You wrote "I'm not sure I agree with you and Jimmy. I don't think there is a large demand for anything other than Greatest Hits". Accepted - but I now own every CD Floyd Cramer ever issued. Why? Because I bought a Greatest Hits by him - liked it, and went looking for the rest, and a lot of them were there. I also bought a Jimmy Rodgers Greatest Hits CD, but when I went looking for the other albuns, they were not there. Ditto for the Lettermen. Labels estimate that 20% of Greatest Hits buyers, go on to buy at least one other CD by the act. Or at least, they would, if they could get them. Also, you wrote: "However, to take your word that you "own" the LP and send you a CD, is just breaking (US) copyright laws". I wondered about that. I thought they when you came to place the order, they were offering to either supply the vinyl + CD if you did not have the vinyl, or else, asking you to send them the vinyl, and they would cut the CD from it, or from their own copy if yours was not up to scratch. (Excuse pun). Did I get it wrong? (As usual). |
