So you're from the birthplace of Elvis, huh -- Tupelo, Mississippi? I used to live in Memphis from '89 to '93. And one weekend I made the 90 mile trek from Memphis down to Tupelo to see his birthplace; as I understand it he was born in Tupelo, but lived most of his live in Memphis. Anyway, when I was in Tupelo I did get a chance to see the home where Elvis spent the first few years of his life -- as it's still open to the public for tours. His family was very, very poor at the time, and just lived in a very small two-room home. I also did get a chance to see the church where Elvis and his family worshipped when they were in Tupelo. Lot of great hiking trails near Tupelo as well -- real pretty country down there along with the great Southern hospitality. And hey, if a person visits Memphis then Graceland ain't too bad a place to visit either.
