Hi Bob In this podcast you mention that Northern Soul gets it's name because the music featured is mainly from the Northern States of USA. Well here in the UK the origin is thought to have come from the fact that this music became popular in the late 60's mainly in the north of England in places such as Wigan, Sheffield & Manchester long after the soul music boom had died out in London & the south. The music tended to be upbeat to go with the highly energetic dancing that evolved in clubs such as The Twisted Wheel in Manchester & Wigan Casino. Alan
