Subject: Exclusive Ultimate Oldies Radio TRIVIA - Name The Corresponding US Hit

Okay, here we go. This song (see snippet below) was a big hit in the UK, in the '70's.
Your mission, should you decide to accept it is, name me the only big hit this artist had in the US, also in the '70's

Hints:
1.) Born in Detroit, but moved to England.
2.) Family member was also in a group that managed some Top 40 US hits.
3.) The person who also sang on the US hit participated in a British Pop-Rock Quartet, and that group had a single Top 40 US hit.
