Found this song on one of those early Audio CDs, the ones where they apologize for the analog recordings not being able to fulfill the capabilities of the new digital age Audio CDs, before Remastering became popular. Always believe record companies never gave you the "best" sound quality, to protect later profits. I took the opportunity to tweak the sound (for my site), but was surprised how far I could go! Have heard this song many times, since it initially charted, but it never seemed to sound as good as the snippet I made. I listen to the nuances below the main body of the song; how low bass guitar notes don't modulate the delicate acoustic guitar, and the dynamics, to tell how well it was recorded. I now detect a tiny bit of tape hiss (now that I got some sleep) right before Rod begins to sing; that tells me (possible) overdubbing took place. Will have to look-up the "remastered" version; I'm sure one exists! Hope everyone had a nice Easter! Best/Cheers, |
