John wrote.... Lincoln Mayorga, played piano - confirmed via a BBC radio interview with Kim Fowley and Ernie Freeman. Jim replied.... Damn! I was not even aware of a Fowley/Freeman interview. (Of course, the list of things I am not aware of would fill a football stadium anyway. And as for the list of things I have forgotten....best not to go there.) Where did you see this mentioned? Did they give a date? I do remember Kim being interviewed by Charlie Gillett on BBC Radio London and at that time, he said that although he was not present at the recording session in Los Angeles, he thought Lincoln Mayorga played the piano on "Nut Rocker", but this is obviously a different interview as I do not remember Ernie Freeman being on it. As you know, Kim lived here in Ireland for several years, but naturally enough, I never once thought of asking him about "Nut Rocker"! (I think that when it came to asking the right people the right questions at the right time - I was basically useless!) Anwyay, I will contact him in the hope that he can recall when the interview took place. Given that it could have been when he lived in Ireland, as he seemed to be going over and back a lot, it might have been relatively recently. The BBC have a brilliant listing of every news item, interview etc., going back to 1940 but whether they will have the actual recording in their archives is another matter, although if not, they usually do have a transcript. This is getting mysteriouser and mysteriouser! About the only person not mentioned so far is Floyd Cramer - perhaps we should start a rumour that he was the pianist on it? Only joking! No - really - only joking! Start something like that and it spreads like wildfire! |
