Subject: RIP Allen Klein - ABKCO Records

Died at 77. A good business man that probably hated music, but loved money. Seems he made a deal with Bobby Darin and getting Bobby $100k from what was owed from the record company. Not sure what Allen made of this deal, but I'm sure a bundle. No one seems to know why Allen and family failed to reissue any Cameo/Parkway Records material, since they absorbed it in the late '60's, until 2004. Have to assume it was forever delayed because of copyrights. I seem to recall a courtroom battle over this material. Some of the artists who recorded for the label, such as Chubby Checker, was forced to re-record his songs. I assume the artists made little money. It's sad; that's one record label that I wish Allen never absorbed, but money will be money.
