While they continue to milk the cow dry with Beatles "remasters", I remastered this nice song by Freddie & The Dreamers. One of the things I like about import CDs, I get to compare audio quality to what is issued in the US. However, like Stereo, people aren't mainly concerned with finding the best sound quality. After all, most of these songs were heard and appreciated on transistor radios with a 2" (51 mm) speaker. Even though I only use GoldWave (v 4.23, Shareware) and AudaCity (v 1.2.6, Free) audio software, I have more capabilities than the biggest record company had 2 decades ago. I also utilize some of the features included with the audio hardware on my 866 MHz computer, with Windows ME. Legacy music deserves legacy processing. Sorry, I don't do vacuum tubes! :-) Is digital sound any better than analog(ue) sound? No. With current analog recording equipment, most people can't differentiate between the two. Digital recordings (or creations), especially sound effects found in movies, sound fake to me, because they are unnatural sounding. Best, |
