Jim finalized with: Am I bitter? Am I heck! I deal in sound, mainly, to paint my own picture of the history of music. During this early R&R period, record companies would struggle with many Takes to get things just right, with "live" recordings! Later, they broke things up, to save money (studio time, etc.), such as recording just the music, then, later, add vocals and other tidbits via multiple recorders, play back one, record and add with another. Later, that was still too costly, so, with technology, no need to record any part over and over, just replace a single instrument or vocal with one recorder. Later, it was even cheapened more, and human musicians became synthesized, saving even more money for record companies! Sadly, that last approach, is where I began to lose interest in music, because half of it was fake - you could no longer admire a human. This fake stuff exists today. I'm sure some of today's "hit" tunes are recorded on a PC! I'm sure the American record companies knew there wasn't much profit left to music and sold off to foreigners. The foreigners had world-wide distribution, but didn't seem to help for very long. I'm just amazed they (all) market HQ American music in Japan, but leave the US high and dry. I say, let them all fold! Best,
