John, I'm happy to say regarding your comments about Paul Anka...you're mistaken about his connection with the fans. I interviewed him in 1996 in Baltimore. Then the following night my mom and two aunts saw him in concert at the Meyerhoff. My Aunt Millie met him at the venue exit following the show. He gladly posed for several pictures and was extremely gracious. As far as I'm concerned, he went above and beyond the call that night and rates high in my book. Sometimes performers have bad days or even moments. This doesn't excuse them from being rude or 'cold' to fans but all of us have had times where we have not been on our game, so to speak. In responding to an earlier post about Anka's re-releases, I asked him why RCA put out a 'Greatest Hits' LP in the early 60's whereby he re-recorded his originals. Anka said when he left ABC Paramount in '63 to sign with RCA...ABC sued him over release rights to the originals even though he wrote all of his hits. As is usually the case, it took decades before the early classics were finally put out in stereo form when Rhino released a Hits CD. Have a great day John...and please find me a stereo copy of Bobby Rydell's 'Forget Him'...if such a version exists. Bob |
