Subject: RE: Jay & The Americans - This Magic Moment - 1969

Message Detail:
Today, Jay Black, who sang all but one of the hits for this group, has to sing without any reference to the group that he basically made famous. Due to financial problems, a judge ruled that the American's name was worth money. That name was purchased by Sandy Deanne, one of the original Americans for $100,000 to allow Jay Black to pay his debts. Deanne used the name to reuniite with the other original members, and recruited a third "Jay", whose actual first name is Jay, Jay Reincke, who they found singing Jay And The Americans songs in Chicago. I went to You Tube and this guy is a very good sound alike. However, to me, a group just isn't the same without the original lead singer.
