I meant to send this to Bob (Jim).... Mar-V-Lus / One-Derful / M-Pac / Tangerine [Records] Some of the most memorable songs came from these record labels. From input of two in the reissued music industry, there were two stories, one was the tape material had be destroyed. My heart was broken. But, I came across one music group, The Five Du-Tones, on a [semi-rare] 1979 P-Vine [Records] vinyl LP, from Japan. It contained unreleased material. How could the tape material be destroyed, but P-Vine was able to offer unreleased material. My hopes heightened. I began internet searching. To make a long story short, I had the pleasure of talking to the person in possessing these, approximately, 700 tapes. At a very minimum, I can hear in my mind, how great [into acrobatics] The Du-ettes, "Please Forgive Me" could sound from [remastered] session tapes, maybe in first-time stereo! Great song! I'm hoping I get a crack at the actual remastering, Anyway, I became a little confused after reading the P-Vine [Special] interview information - it was mentioned "2-Tracks" were mainly available to record. Anyway, this material has been bootlegged [mastered from vinyl]. Actually, I found The Du-ettes on a [CD] label out of the UK. When I went to visit their web site [listed], it was already gone! The [Chicago based] Five Du-Tones had their own [the Exciters] back-up band. George Leaner [Owner of his studio "workshop'] appeared to have a group of session musicians, like James Green [bass], Cash McCall, Mighty Joe Young, Jimmy Jones [guitar], Ira Gates [drums]. Actually, most anyone may be heard, even a janitor singing background! If I can't hear any of my favorites, by Alvin Cash & The Crawlers, The Du-ettes, The Five Du-Tones, in Stereo, I'd settle for any out-takes and/or studio talk, in pristine magnetic tape sound! John
