John wrote.... I need to ask, Jim, how did you become involved with the ISA? In 1966, I set up a recording studio, and one of our first clients was a songwriter, who complained that there was no organisation in Europe for songwriters who were writing pop/rock/country/r&b material, as opposed to what was referred to as "light" music (MOR I suppose you would call it nowadays). So I set up the ISA in October 1967. There really should be a more legendary story to it (like Buddy Holly appeared in a dream and told me what to do), so I must work on a legend. As the newspaperman says in "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance", - when the truth contradicts the legend, print the legend. I really must work on a legend. |
