John wrote... Oh, so you (assumed) wanted to be a record company owner??! Jim replied.... No, I really wanted to be a recording star, but lacked talent (although that was not necessarily a problem in the early days) and looks (and that was definitely a problem). However, in order to stay in music and eat at the same time, I opened a recording studio, which did lead on to a small label (Menlo Records) which issued three or four singles around 1967/8. However, by 1969, with none of the records selling, and the ISA taking up a lot of my time, I left Menlo, although they issued about another six pr so singles, before folding around 1973 or so. John wrote.... It's obvious you were successful; that's all that matters!!! Jim replied... If by being successful, you mean I did not starve - you are probably correct, as my current size would suggest. Otherwise, the jury is still out on that one.... |
