Perhaps not such a bad idea.

I hate the word "oldies" - I think you can attract the same demographic by using the term "Gold" or "Solid Gold", and still look to pull in a younger audience.

Telling them it's "oldies" music does not really help.

On air, I never gave out a "year" for any record. It was difficult to remember not to do it, but it worked.

Why remind your audience they are getting old?

Those of us around at the time know what we're listening to so you do not need to tell us is is "oldies" music, and who knows, some kids might take to the "gold" music as long as nobody labels it as such.

As a kid, my daughter took to Jackie Wilson's "Reet Petite" and was disappointed to learn it wemt back to the 50s, while my grandson thinks "Rocking Robin" by Bobby Day is "cool" and "current".

Wait until he finds out....he'll slaughter me.
