Hi John, getting back a bit late on this!

No, it failed to even make the Hot 100 back in 1956, mainly because it was covered by the McGuire Sisters who made the Top 30 with it. However, the original did make Number 7 on the R&B charts same year.

Actually a much revived tune. Ray Peterson took it to 64 in 1959, and my favourite version by the Fleetwoods made the Top 30 in 1963. And there were two more hit versions, one by Ben E King and the last by Paul Anka all prior to 1970.

Let's see - that makes five hit versions of the same song! Not bad for a song that was never a classic!

Come to think of it, there were five chart versions of "A Little Bit Of Soap" also! And five of "Hi Heel Sneakers". And six of "Autumn Leaves" and also "Let It Be Me". And eight of "Unchained Melody"!

Now that must be the record!

Any improvement on eight?
