Not that I have to remind anybody, but today is the 3rd of February. I was fourteen years old when a school friend met me at the bus stop on our way to school. In Limerick City, Ireland. "You know that singer you like, the guy with the glasses? They just had it on the radio that he has been killed in an air-crash". Of course I didn't believe him. But, 56 years ago today, Buddy Holly, Ritchies Valens, J P Richardson and Roger Peterson died together in Iowa. OK - it was not really the day the music died. But for me, at the time, it seemed to be. |
