Hi John. I had never heard that intro before on the Cannibal's version until you produced it here! Their cover (but without that slow intro), did actually make the Top 30 in 1965. It was a re-make of Chris Kenner's original which had barely reached the Hot 100 in 1963, but the original did include that slow intro. So obviously, whoever produced the Cannibal & The Headhunters version decided to chop off that intro afther they had recorded it - and probably wisely so! But I must say, although I am a fan of Chris Kenner, I still prefer the Cannibal's version. Without that daft intro of course! Where do you get this stuff from? I never realised that this version with a slow intro, existed. |
