Subject: RE: Getting Pressure Up for Next October |
|
Pat, I have read your postings with glee! Just spoke to Bob Pratt this morning and he will be looking into securing one of the portable turning basin's you have just suggested in your last missive. There are both McAdam and grassy areas to explore at the site we will be using for Steam Tug BALTIMORE'S 100th Birthday Party set for October 21-22, 2006. Didn't you say that one is going to be set up in Southern Pennsylvania early this Spring and another at the Chesapeake Bay Marine Museum in Saint Michaels, MD in late May? We have plenty of area to set up such a portable pool on the grounds in October. I also like your thought that "there are some big 'uns that might enjoy a run in the brine!" Actually it is brackish water that far North - fresh and salt water mixed. We were going to look into floating barriers such as are used to contain oil spills for a harbor area for R/C operations. Wouldn't you suppose that we need to gather in a committee to orchestrate this portion of the Tug Birthday party? Having an on-site rep should be a big priority too? Might the South Orange Seaport Society and other groups in the area have guidelines for gatherings of this type? Let's get started -- I'm in! Walt
