Subject: Tug Fest 2008

Message Detail:
My two sons took me to Tug Fest last Saturday and we had a great time with the tugs, steam launches and RC models. We had such a good time we stayed over and on Sunday visited the Liberty ship John W. Brown and took the harbor tour before returning to Northern Virginia.

It was a glorious weekend both for the weather as well as the spectacle. The parade of tugs was thrilling as they cruised by just 30 or 40 yards from us spectators who lined the dock. What a great opportunity to enjoy the waterfront scene, savor the smells of big slow-RPM diesels, and boilers fueled by kerosene, coal and firewood, and chat with crew and spectators all of whom loved their work, their hobby and anything associated with the sea.

Our sincere thanks and congratulations to the Baltimore & Cheasapeake Steamboat Co., the Industrial Museum, and all the volunteers and participants who made this such a satisfying event.

Good luck! Hope to see you next year.
