Subject: NY Harbour Races Set for September 3rd |
|
Sounds like the Working Harbor Committee of New York Harbour is setting up a great one-day outing for September 3rd. A Tugboat Race!!!! What a great way to recognize and celebrate Labour Day too! We hope that as many as possible might be able to take in both the Tug Races in New York and the 100th Birthday weekend events surrounding the Port of Baltimore's official flagship Tug BALTIMORE. Rumour has it that Photo Journalist Don Southerland of Maritime News will be attending both the New York Harbour Races and the 1906 Steam Tug BALTIMORE Birthday Bash. We hope that such a trip holds true too for the New York based 1907 Tug PEGASUS, as both she and BALTIMORE were built one year apart at the same Skinner Shipyard at the foot of Federal Hill, Baltimore. The Philadelphia based 1902 Tug JUPITER, we are told, is making ready for a run down the Chesapeake & Delaware Canal and into the Monumental City by Mid-October.
